NexusConsent
GDPR-ready consent controls with granular blocking and audit trails.
Description
NexusConsent adds lightweight, GDPR-ready consent controls to Joomla. It blocks optional services until visitors opt in, keeps a minimal consent log, and provides an accessible consent UI.
Legal Disclaimer
NexusConsent is a technical tool designed tao assist website owners with cookie and consent management. It is not a legal service and its use does not, by itself, guarantee compliance with any privacy regulation.
- No legal advice. Nothing in this plugin or its documentation constitutes legal advice. Privacy laws — including the GDPR, ePrivacy Directive, CCPA/CPRA, LGPD, POPIA and others — vary by jurisdiction, are subject to change, and may impose requirements beyond what any technical tool can address.
- Configuration is your responsibility. The site owner is responsible for correctly configuring consent categories, block patterns, banner text, and privacy policy references to reflect the actual data processing activities on their site.
- TCF stub limitations. The optional TCF v2 stub is not an IAB-registered Consent Management Platform. It does not generate valid TC Strings and should not be relied upon where full TCF compliance is required.
- Consult qualified legal counsel. We strongly recommend seeking professional legal advice to ensure your consent implementation meets the specific requirements applicable to your site, audience, and jurisdiction.

Changelog
NexusConsent 1.3.0 brings a full modernisation of the plugin architecture. The runtime now uses Joomla's dependency injection container via a proper service provider, replacing the legacy entry file entirely. All inline JavaScript has been updated to ES6+ syntax, and deprecated API calls have been replaced with the modern event dispatcher for forward compatibility through Joomla 7.
This release also addresses several security and reliability improvements: CSV exports are now protected agains formula injection, the site scanner and blocking engine correctly handle protocol-relative URLs, and the consent database uses atomic upserts with an indexed retention purge for better performance at scale. Consent records are now preserved on uninstall to maintain the audit trail required by GDPR Article 7(1).
A legal disclaimer has been added to clarify that NexusConsent is a technical tool and does not constitute legal
advice.
